Getting to Know the Uniqueness of Baby Statues in Sakah Village, Gianyar Bali

Bali is indeed famous for its natural beauty, but did you know that certain places in Bali are famous for their awesomeness.

One of them is the Baby Sakahvillage statue in Gianyar Regency, Bali.

This statue is the embodiment of Sang Hyang Brahma Lelare who is Sang Hyang Shiva Buddha.

However, many say the name of the statue is the statue of Bayu Sakahvillage.

The statue of a babysitter cross-legged is large and faces south. While on the right and left of this statue there are two Pule trees and around the statue, there is an iron fence.

The history of this statue began with the Regent of Gianyar at that time, namely Cokorda Darana.

In 1989, Cokorda Darana held an important meeting with a group of historians and traditional Batuan leaders to discuss the planning for the construction of a suitable statue to be built in the three-way intersection of the Gianyar Regency. Dipta is a fighter figure from Gianyar.

But in this second meeting, they finally got an answer and they agreed to build a giant baby statue.

The descendants of the originator of the construction of this statue, namely Ida Bagus Balik, went through meditation and his dream finally got a clue as to what the statue would look like.

The philosophy of this statue itself is the embodiment of the birth of humans into the world. According to the stakeholder (religious priest) namely, Jero Mangku Ketut Widiantara said, the baby statue is a symbol of the child born from the meeting of Shiva and Buddha namely Brahma Lelare who is a baby who has been intelligent since birth. In addition, regarding the mention of the Sakah Baby statue, Sakahvillage village comes from the word Saka which means a solid pillar.

In addition, this statue is considered sacred by residents. According to local people's stories, it is said that this baby statue can cry and if someone sees the statue, then this statue will turn into someone who sees it.

This statue is so sacred that many people pray at this statue to ask for a smooth life and prosperity. For most Balinese people, of course, it is no stranger to the existence of a giant baby statue at the intersection of Jalan Raya Sakah village, Batuan Kaler Village, and Sukawati District. , Gianyar Regency, Bali.

Since 20 years ago, no one has been allowed to reveal how the history of this very haunted statue was founded.

Finally, Jero Mangku Ida Bagus Balik is a descendant of the donor and the originator of the idea for the statue. Initially, Jero Mangku Ambara, who is more familiarly called Ida Bagus Balik, was reluctant to publish the history and philosophy of the statue which is symbolic of Shiva Buddha.

However, after determining a good day and of course careful preparation, he is finally willing to open it to the public to treat the curiosity of the Balinese people.

“Since long ago, many students, students, and the media have asked me for an explanation. However, I did not explain because to reveal the history and philosophy, it must be on the right day and to the right person. The statue which is symbolic of Sang Hyang Shiva Buddha is called Sang Hyang Brahma Leland.

The idea to build the statue originated from the intention of former Gianyar Regent Cokorda Darana in 1989. At that time, Cokorda Darana invited several historical practitioners and officers from Batuan village to hold a (Sangkep) (meeting). all three and four intersections in Gianyar Regency.

“The key is that there is an appeal to make a statue that can be used as pride, once again something to be proud of. At that time, a meeting was held that invited historical experts to discuss what statue to build,” said Gus Balik, accompanied by the rain that was pouring down Gianyar at that time.

The first meeting did not produce a decision. Most of the meeting participants at that time proposed the idea to build a puppet statue, and a statue of Captain I Wayan Dipta.

According to Gus Balik's explanation, the puppet statue and the statue of Captain, I Wayan Dipta will not become the pride of the Balinese people, especially in Gianyar.

Because, he said, if statues of warriors and puppets were built in other areas, the statues to be made would no longer be a source of pride for the Balinese people, especially Gianyar.

Finally, after the second meeting, it was decided to build the statue of Sang Hyang Brahma Leland.

Brahma Lelare is a statue in the form of a baby.

The shape of the baby was chosen because it fits the philosophy that the baby is a symbol of human birth in the world. So, why was the statue built on Jalan Raya Sakah village precisely in Banjar Belah Tanah?

Maybe that's the question most Balinese people ask.According to Gus Balik's explanation, the Shiva Buddha symbol was built there because the land located at the intersection of the three Sakah village Highways, is Niskala called Blah –Tanah-Sake-Ah, meaning that in the middle of the land, there is a sake (scene) and ah (scene). there is no upper and lower boundary).

“Blah Tanah, Sake Ah, that's Hyang Tibe. To the west of the statue is the Hyang Tibe temple," said the 64-year-old man. In addition, in Kawi language, Gus Balik also opened up the philosophy of Sang Hyang Brahma Lelare: Ang Ung Mang, Wijil Sang Hyang Tri Sakti. Sang Buk Buk Sah, Sang Hyang Crow Aking—Patemuaning Shiva Buddha Sakti Patwa Sang Hyang Brahma Lelare Pinake Ratuning Wisesa.

Broadly speaking, Gus Balik said that philosophy means a meeting between the magic of Shiva and the magic of Buddha called Sang Hyang Widhi.

"The magic of Shiva and the magic of Buddha there met and that's what all religious people are looking for," he said.

For a deeper explanation, Gus Balik was reluctant to explain.

Because, speaking of a more in-depth philosophy, he said, it was very complicated and took a long time.

He said that discussing the ins and outs of the Sakah statue in depth is the same as discussing God. If everything is reviewed, it cannot be done. It can't be arbitrary and the time can't be a matter of hours. If written also will not run out. Because, if reviewing it is the same as reviewing Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa,
