Erick Thohir Synergizes Macro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) into Bali Maritime Tourism

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir explained that the government is developing Benoa Port into a Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH). This is done to bring local products from MSMEs and Indonesia's creative industries to be big and even enter the global market.

According to Erick Thohir, the development of local products will of course have a great opportunity to improve welfare and grow the community's economy. "In Benoa (Port) 100 percent must be local brands, want food or something else," Erick said in a written statement, Saturday (1/1/2022). The Bali Maritime Tourism Hub is projected to become a maritime tourism center in Indonesia and is targeted for completion. in mid-2023. Benoa Harbor itself has been included in the Superhub Development Program following the mandate of Presidential Regulation Number 109 of 2020, concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 3 of 2016, concerning the Acceleration of Implementation of National Strategic Projects.

Based on this, Erick synergizes MSMEs and industry players into BMTH to become an ecosystem. He emphasized that this ecosystem must be realized, considering it is related to the assignment of BUMN in the creative industry sector and micro-enterprises. Meanwhile, the development of the Benoa Bali Port in the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub concept also makes Bali a maritime tourism hub that functions as a homeport for tourist cruise ships. . Of course, this step will be able to increase the connectivity of tourist visits by cruise ships between ports in Indonesia.

"Why do we make Bali a super-hub instead of marine tourists, where the point is here, then he spreads to other islands whose infrastructure is inferior to Bali's," he said.

The Bali Maritime Tourism Hub will not only have a tourism zone but will also gradually build a yacht terminal zone, a fishery zone, a liquid bulk and container zone, as well as the existing Benoa port. Which will later become the berth for the largest cruise ship in Indonesia.
