The Attorney General's Office (AGO) 53 Task Force Team (AGO) arrested a high-ranking official at the Mojokerto Regency District Attorney's Office, East Java on Tuesday (12/10). The Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum), Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak said that the arrest of a structural official at the Mojokerto Kejari was related to an alleged abuse of authority.
"The Task Force 53 Team of the Attorney General's Office has arrested a structural official at the Mojokerto District Attorney's Office regarding reports of public complaints regarding alleged abuse of authority," Leonard said in his statement, Wednesday (13/10). Leonard said the arrests stemmed from community reports.
Currently, the supervisory team is still conducting clarification and examination of the person concerned at the AGO building, Jakarta. Leonard has not announced the possibility that he is a suspect.
"Furthermore, the person concerned is currently still being investigated in the field of supervision of the Attorney General's Office," said Leonard.
Democrat party controversy
The attorney for the Democrat Party's version of the Deli Serdang KLB, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, confirmed that the application for judicial review related to the Democrat Party's AD/ART that was submitted to the Supreme Court would continue.
Yusril denied that the petition for judicial review was revoked. He explained that four parties submitted a judicial review of the Democratic Party's AD/ART. Even if one of the applicants withdraws the application, there are still three applicants who still want to continue the judicial review at the Supreme Court.
"In the case of JR (judicial review) to the Supreme Court, considering that there are four principals, only three people do not revoke their power of attorney. If these three people do not revoke their power of attorney, then our application for JR will continue for and on behalf of the three applicants," said Yusril Yusril also emphasized that until now his party as a legal representative has not received a statement from Nur Rahmat Sigit Purwanto as Petitioner II which is said to have revoked the application for judicial review of the Democrat Party's AD/ART which was submitted to the Supreme Court.
If all applicants withdraw their application for judicial review, said Yusril, as a professional advocate, he will not continue the application.
On the other hand, Yusril also reminded that applications that have been registered with the court could be continued by other advocates, or revoked directly by the principal or attorney.
