The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and is capable of pulling loads of up to three tons. Mazda Australia also launched the Mazda BT-50 SP variant which got several enhancements such as 18-inch rims, side mirror housings, and black side pedals.

The cabin features Driftwood leather trim, black synthetic suede, black tonneau covers, tub liners, and a sports bar. However, the SP variant only uses a 3.0-liter engine.
