Get to know Indomaret and Alfamart more closely

The conglomerates that own the retail business Indomaret and Alfamart are among the top 50 richest people in Indonesia in 2021 according to Forbes. Who is wealthier? The two conglomerates are Anthoni Salim, owner of Indomaret and Djoko Susanto, owner of Alfamart. Both are retail tycoons with ownership of more than 15,000 outlets as of semester I/2021. Based on Forbes data, Thursday (12/16/2021), Anthony Salim was ranked the third richest person in Indonesia, with a total wealth of US $ 8.5 billion or equivalent to Rp. 121.5 trillion. Not only being the owner of Indomaret, but Anthony Salim also heads the Group. Salim, with investments in food, retail, banking, telecommunications, and energy. Anthony Salim is the CEO of Indofood who posted revenues of US$5.8 billion, one of the largest instant noodle makers in the world. As of semester I/2021, Indomaret has opened 600 new stores, and the total by 2020 the number of outlets has reached 18,113. units. Meanwhile, Alfamart boss Djoko Susanto currently recorded income of US$1.9 billion or equivalent to Rp27.1 trillion, up 0.42 percent or US$8 million on Wednesday (12/15/2021) and occupies the 22nd position in the ranks of the 50 richest people in Indonesia Djoko Susanto is the owner of the Alfamart group, a retail business with a minimart concept. As of semester I/2021, Alfamart is preparing to open 650-850 new outlets. As of the end of 2020, the number of Alfamart outlets has reached 15,434 units. The working system of Alfa Mart and Indomart is almost the same, including:

1. Working days.

The working day for the shop is Monday-Monday, aka there are no holidays. Likewise with red dates and holidays. Wow, that looks cruel. Not because the main business of this company is trading. So even though it's a holiday, you have to keep trading. For national holidays when leaving, overtime is calculated. Because there is no day off, the work system is the shift. There is shift 1 and shift 2. Especially for 24-hour shops, there is also shift 3. Shift 1 starts from 07.00-15.00 Shift II from 15.00 - 10.00 while shift III is from 10.00 - 07.00. for workdays for employees is 5 and 1, which means 5 times work 1 time off.

2. Salary and benefits

The company pays employees according to the regional UMK. So between one store to another, it is certain to be different. Apart from that, employees also get benefits from the BPJS for employment, BPJS for pensions, insurance, and other benefits. Every year if sales are good, employees also get year-end bonuses and mandatory THR. The company also pays for the needs of the out-of-town service, the amount of which is adjusted for each position. The increase in employee salaries is also determined according to the performance of each employee.

3. Career

This is most important as an employee. Of course, employees want a clear career. Almost the same between Indomaret and Alfamart, the only difference may be the name. When a prospective new employee enters, the employee is entered as a grade 5 crew store. Then after 2 years, the store crew will undergo an assessment to increase the level. If you pass, you will be promoted to grade 6 with the position of assistant chief of the store (assistant store head). Then after 1 year, they will be promoted to chief of store grade 7. Then the senior chief of store grade 8. After it is deemed capable, mapping and promotion will be carried out for the position of Korwil grade 9. Now in this position employees get official cars from carrying companies and not only responsible for only 1 store but must be responsible for 10-15 stores. After the employee enters grade 10 or senior regional coordinator, the employee will be assessed for the area manager position.
