Source-Based Waste Management

Efforts to improve source-based waste management continue to be carried out by the Buleleng Regency Government. This is in line with the vision and mission of the Bali Provincial Government, namely Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali. The real step has been to build a Clean-Reduce Reuse, Recycle (TPS-3R) Waste Management Site in Patas Village, Gerokgak District on Monday (28/6). Where the laying of the first stone was carried out by the Head of the Buleleng Regency Environment Agency, Gede Melandrat representing the Buleleng Regent.

Confirmed in his office, Tuesday, (29/6). Kadis Gede Melandrat said the construction of the TPS-3R in Patas Village was assisted by the Central Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) of Rp. 510,000,000, - including the facilities and infrastructure.

“We propose 9 villages that deserve TPS-3R assistance, but only one has been approved by the center. In addition, as a reward from the development of TPS-3R in Baktiseraga Village, we received assistance as many as 2 TPS-3R units, namely in Temukus and Pejarakan villages, "he explained.

He added that this assistance is a manifestation of the seriousness of all parties from the village to the local government in protecting the environment, which is a problem that must be handled together.

"The government will assist in terms of supervision and management so that from a governance perspective and its functions run optimally. Without great intentions and commitment from the community in synergy with the government it is impossible to build TPS-3R. This is a form of government attention,” said the Head of Melandrat.

The basic thing for the construction of TPS-3R, explained by the Head of the Melandrat District, is that its management can reduce the use of waste, reduce the volume of waste in separating organic and non-organic waste. Organic waste can be turned into compost, fertilizer or eco-enzyme and maggot cultivation, while inorganic waste for valuable waste is collected at the waste banks in the village.

“Village-based waste management is emphasized so that the village is clean and without polluting other villages. If all villages are committed to such a commitment, the landfill in Bengkala TPA can be reduced and the environment will be cleaner and more beautiful,” he hoped.Environmental Counselors coordinating with the Head of the Werdhi Tani Group (wayan Kariada) in Pancasari Village related to source-based waste management using the vegetable and fruit waste method to be used as Eco Enzyme. There are several things  can be said as follows:

Environmental instructors provide education about source-based waste management using vegetable waste and fruit waste management methods to be used as Eco Enzymes and also provide 5 liters of Eco Enzyme as a sample for fruit and vegetable farming, one of which is strawberry fruit.

The head of the farmer group is very willing to manage fruit and vegetable waste to be processed into Eco Enzyme as liquid organic fertilizer (POC) as an alternative fertilizer to replace chemical fertilizers and will create a special plot for agriculture using Eco Enzyme. Furthermore, it will be coordinated with members of the farmer group to be given further education.

Let's manage waste with the 3R system, turn it into organic waste compost or make it an ingredient for Eco Enzyme (EE) with a predetermined method.
